Campisano signs with Hungarian A-division club BKG Prima
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif .– Shortly after graduating from Cal Poly, the Mustang forward Sierra Campisano will continue his basketball career abroad, having signed with BKG Prima in Szigetszentmiklós, Hungary.
Located just outside Budapest, BKG recently capped a championship race, going 26-1 overall to secure the NB1 B-Division title, which was awarded with a promotion to A-Division.
“I am more than thrilled with this opportunity. I am so grateful to Cal Poly and coach Faith and ‘T (Kristina Santiago) for helping me put myself in this position so that I can come forward and sign with a team, ”says Campisano. “Hungary will be a really cool place to immerse myself in a new culture and a whole new experience, so I’m really excited and grateful.”
Campisano just spent WNBA training camp and preseason with the Chicago Sky. She made her professional debut on May 9 against the Indiana Fever, grabbing a defensive rebound during her seven minutes at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Campisano, consecutive winner of all first-team conferences, led the Big West with 15.8 points per game in 2020-21. She also finished second in the league in rebounding (averaging 8.7 boards) and placed fourth in blocks (1.1 per game), helping Cal Poly advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. conference for the third time in four years.
