Kean University warns unvaccinated students will be expelled
Kean University is warning students if they fail to provide proof of vaccination they will be expelled. The deadline to provide proof of immunization status is August 1.
Officially, the University calls it being “Unsubscribed” from the class. “If you do not submit the form by August 1, you will be unsubscribed from any courses you are currently enrolled in to take in the fall, regardless of your payment status as of August 11,” it reads. on the Kean website.
It is not known if the University will offer refunds to those who refuse to be vaccinated, but the school says the student seat will be vacated and open to other students.
Kean offers exemptions for religious and medical reasons, but like most schools, the number of exemptions that should be granted is low.

Some students questioned the vaccination mandate for them, while faculty and staff are not subject to the same demands. A spokesperson for Kean says Patch.com they “strongly encourage our teachers and staff to submit their immunization records,” but did not explain why this was not a requirement for the job.
The website University affairs lists 18 colleges and universities in New Jersey that have some level of vaccination requirement to attend class or be on campus when the new semester begins. They are: Caldwell University, Drew University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Kean University, Monmouth University, Montclair State University, Mount St. Mary’s University, New Jersey City University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Ramapo College of New Jersey, Rider University, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Stockton University, William Paterson University
Rutgers was the first to announce mandatory vaccination requirements. Hundreds of students protested the move in May. However, it looks like the warrants are here to stay.
